Fukuzumi, 20, finished seventh in the Drivers’ Championship last season as the worst-placed of the ART drivers. His best result was second place at the Malaysian sprint race, one of three podiums he earned throughout the year.

The Japanese driver was one of seven drivers to take part in post-season testing in Abu Dhabi for the team, going fastest in both morning and afternoon sessions on the first day of the three-day tests at the Yas Marina Circuit.

He is the only driver from the team’s 2016 line-up who has not yet trialled a GP2 car, with Charles Leclerc, Alex Albon and Nyck de Vries all featuring in post-season testing in GP3’s sister series.
