Niko Kari has been announced as Arden International’s first driver for the 2017 GP3 Series season.

The news came as Red Bull confirmed their junior driver line-up for the year, with Kari their only representative racing in GP3.

Kari joins the team after taking part in the opening two days of post-season testing with them at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in December, gaining knowledge of their #10 car.

The Finnish driver finished 23rd and last at the end of the first day after initially being sixth fastest in the morning before a more positive second day where he finished the morning session on top of the timesheets and was fourth at the end of the day.

His only previous experience of the series came standing in for Ralph Boschung at Koiranen GP at the 2016 Belgian round at Spa, retiring from the feature race before finishing 14th in the sprint event.

Kari is the third driver to be confirmed for the 2017 grid after Kevin Joerg joined Trident and Julien Falchero entered the series with Campos Racing.
