Campos Racing has announced that Julien Falchero will join the team for the 2017 GP3 Series season.

The 19-year-old Frenchman took part in post-season testing for the team, driving their #22 car, finishing in 20th and 19th twice during the three days in the car at the Yas Marina Circuit.

He graduates to GP3 after one full season of racing in Formula Renault 2.0 and 2.0 NEC, finishing 13th in both championships.

Falchero said that he is delighted to be able to move up into the series.

“A new challenge in 2017 in GP3 Series with Campos Racing is an extraordinary opportunity,” he said.

He also revealed that he will be assisted in his aim of fighting at the front of the grid by former Ligier, Shadow and Tyrrell Formula One driver Jean-Pierre Jarier.

“The tests in Abu Dhabi and the integration within the team in Valencia in Spain are a real treat for me. I’m going to prepare for the best physically this season and have as coach the former French F1 driver, Jean-Pierre Jarier, who agreed to take care of me with the goal to occupy the first places on the grid.”

Falchero is the second driver to be confirmed for the next season of GP3 following Kevin Joerg’s move to Trident.
