Marquez takes Brno pole with record time
Marc Marquez has taken pole for tomorrow’s Czech GP by breaking the lap record at the Brno circuit.
Marquez took pole from Jorge Lorenzo, who has been on top form all weekend. Lorenzo set a quick time that you would think would be unbeatable, however, Marquez being Marquez, was able to snatch it from him.
The Spanish duo were followed by Andrea Iannone, who was also able to create some late heroics to line up on the front row. He just beat out Aleix Espargaro, who was on for his first front row start of the season.
Hector Barbera continued to show impressive form by ending the session behind Espargaro, meaning he will start tomorrow in fifth place. Valentino Rossi will join him on the second row, after qualifying in sixth.
Andrea Dovizioso and Maverick Vinales will line up in seventh and eighth for tomorrow’s race. They will be joined by Dani Pedrosa, who had to fight his way through Q1 to end up ninth on the grid.
Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith will start tenth and eleventh, with Pol Espargaro ending up as the best of the Q2 riders in twelfth.
Danilo Petrucci and Scott Redding just missed out on Q2, with the Pramac duo starting tomorrow from thirteenth and fourteenth place.
The race tomorrow is a tantalising prospect, and will get underway at 13:00 BST.
