Dragon Racing entered Formula E using a customer power train and with an unchanged driver lineup.

They were immediately quicker than their power train supplier’s Venturi and looked like regular podium finishers from the very first race.

Although they would go onto score three podiums including a win in Mexico, they couldn’t show their race winning potential on a consistent basis and this cost them third in the Teams’ Championship. They missed out on third to DS Virgin by a single point, so ultimately the team will rue a number of missed opportunities.

They will now be focusing on season three which once again will see them retain Jerome d’Ambrosio and Loic Duval, but this time they will have their own power train in the car.

Jerome D’Ambrosio

Championship Position: 5th

Points: 83

Best Finish: 1st

For a second year in a row, D’Ambrosio endured a mixed season which one weekend would see him fight for the win and the next struggle to score points.

Furthermore, his one race win would once again come as a result of Di Grassi being disqualified. However, like with his win in Berlin last year the victory was fully deserved.

The Belgium driver stole two pole positions even when he clearly didn’t have the quickest car. He often proved to be a real headache for championship protagonists Di Grassi and Buemi on numerous occasions.

An example of that would be in Mexico, when he took his second Formula E victory. His defending against Buemi pushed the boundaries of what’s legal, but the former Formula One driver remained calm and never went too far. If he has a more consistently competitive package in season three, he could be one to watch.

Loic Duval

Championship Position: 8th

Points: 60

Best Finish: 4th

The Frenchman endured a mixed second season in Formula E. He was beaten by his teammate in the Drivers’ Championship 83-60 and failed to score a podium all season, while d’Ambrosio won a race and finished on the podium another two times.

However the former Le Mans winner finished in the top six in half of the race he competed in, and helped Dragon Racing to fourth in the Teams’ Championship.

Without the three straight DNF’s at the end of the season, Duval would have been much closer to his teammate in the Drivers’ Championship and Dragon Racing would have beaten DS Virgin Racing to third.

Highlights of the season include his comeback drive in Long Beach where he came from 17th to finish in eighth, and his front row start at the  Punta del Este ePrix.
