Rosberg wants to bounce back in Germany
Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg has said that he wants to bounce back in Germany after coming second at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The German lost the lead at the start of the race to teammate Lewis Hamilton and spent the rest of the race trying to chase him down. Despite getting within a second of him on a few occasions, he couldn’t overtake. This means that he has lost his championship lead for the first time this season, now six points behind his teammate.
Rosberg said in his podium interview that the result happened because of the start and the difficulty to overtake around the Hungaroring.
“Yeah it was all down to the start in the end and I lost out a little bit into turn one with Daniel [Ricciardo] on the outside and Lewis on the inside I ran out of space so I had to bail out of it,” Rosberg said.
“That was it really, then I was happy to take Daniel back in turn two and from then on I was trying put all the pressure possible on Lewis, but of course, it’s not possible to pass on this track.
He confirmed that he wants to hit back at Hamilton and was excited at the thought of another victory at his home race in Hockenheim.
“That sounds very good. The next race is coming up very quickly and my home race, that’s going to be awesome.”
He is the last winning driver of a German Grand Prix, triumphing there in 2014.
