Sauber yet to pay staff full February salaries

The Sauber Formula One team is yet to pay any of its staff their complete salaries from February because of cash flow problems.

According to sources within Sauber every single member of staff received an equal portion of their expected salaries to ensure each member of staff was treated equally and fairly regardless of position.

Sauber has struggled financially for several years now but word coming out of the team suggests they are in advanced talks with a title sponsor which could potentially change their fortunes dramatically. As it stands no deal has been signed and no official comment has been made but the team is hopeful.

The addition of a title sponsor to the team’s portfolio should secure their long-term future after years of uncertainty without a title sponsor.

The Hinwil based team had tried everything to avoid a situation like they now find themselves in, they even requested an advance on their championship payments from Bernie Ecclestone and FOM (Formula One Management) back in November.

The winter period is always the most difficult for Formula One teams due to the huge costs involved in designing and manufacturing their cars for the following this season. This winter alone we saw requests from Force India, Sauber and Manor for advances on their championship payments.

We still expect Sauber to take part in the season-opener at the Australian Grand Prix in a little under two weeks despite their current financial plight.
