Renault launches its 2016 challenger

Renault F1 team have become the first team to launch their 2016 challenger ahead of pre-season testing which gets underway later this month.

The RS16 was launched at an event at its Technocentre in Paris.

Jolyon Palmer and Kevin Magnussen were finally confirmed as Renault’s drivers for the 2016 season. GP3 champion Esteban Ocon has been appointed test and reserve driver for the team.

Carmen Jorda has also been retained as the team’s development driver for 2016.

Frederic Vasseur was named as Renault’s racing director while Cyril Abiteboul is managing director and Bob Bell is promoted to chief technical officer.

Renault Group CEO Carlos Ghosn said the team’s goal is to achieve podium finishes within three seasons.

“The team has been given the goal to be on the podium within three years,” said Ghosn.”

The car’s livery for pre-season testing will be mainly black, however, Renault plan to unveil a new livery ahead of the first race in Melbourne.
