Rosberg to go on “maximum attack” in remaining races

Nico Rosberg is determined to tackle the remaining races in full attack mode as he bids to recover the major points deficit to Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg saw himself leaving the last race at Monza with significant ground lost to championship leader Hamilton, having retired from the Italian Grand Prix with an engine failure two laps from the end.

The German now trails his team-mate by 53 points and with a maximum of 150 points up for grabs, Rosberg plans to take on the last seven races of the season with the mindset of there being all to gain rather than to lose.

“Obviously, Monza didn’t go to plan,” commented Rosberg, “It was gutting to miss out on a good result so close to the end, but now I approach the final seven races with the attitude that there’s nothing to lose.”

“It’s maximum attack and I won’t be giving up the fight, no way.”

The 30-year-old heads to Singapore, where he conceded the championship lead to Hamilton due to his Mercedes letting him down with an electrical problem forcing him to start from the pit-lane and ultimately retire from the race.

However, Rosberg has his hopes pinned on a more reliable W06 to give him a smoother race weekend and commence his attack.

“Singapore is one of my favourite races, so that’s a good place to start,” he continued.

“It’s tough on everyone – physically and mentally – and I love that challenge.

“I was only a few thousands off pole last year and feeling good for the race until a problem with the steering wheel ended my weekend.”

“I know I’ve got the pace to win there, so I’m hoping for a clean weekend and a chance to unleash this silver beast under the lights.”
