There will be a rev1403248128ersal on the decision to introduce standing grid restarts to Formula 1 for next season, according to German publication AMuS.

Standing grid restarts after safety car periods were among the proposals put forward by the F1 Commission and approved by the FIA in order to add more excitement to the sport and responding to declining television viewers.

The rule has shown itself to be controversial with fans and drivers alike, voicing safety concerns and driver disadvantages as main reasons for them not to be in favour of it.

Although it has been reported by AMuS that F1 commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone is happy with the on-track action he witnessed in the thrilling race in Hungary last weekend and that it played its part in him promising that rolling restarts will still be the norm for next season.

Ecclestone is quoted saying that “There will be no standing start after a safety car phase. What we have seen in Budapest, was good enough.”

He also spoke about his desire for the sport to place more emphasis on driver skill rather than regulating the sport more and swaying the emphasis towards the designing and development of cars.

“We just want to operate fine tuning. All the stupid and unnecessary rules that have been added in recent years, it should be no more,” added Ecclestone.

“Everything must be easier. I want a World Cup of drivers and not the engineers.”

The 83-year old is set to hold further discussions with a selected group of team bosses and representatives regarding the popularity of the sport.
